Evangelion 1.11 English Dub 1080p: The Best Way to Experience the Rebuild of Evangelion
the english dub track is absolutely fantastic, with the music given a nice punchier sound that matches the dubs attitude to the proceedings. the script is generally accurate to the original japanese, and the narration is retained (though i still can't get over how different the english voice actors sound). all of this is topped with an amazing dubbing of the english characters, with the only oddity being the risque jokes that are so well-suited to the characters (shinji has an explosion in his wiener, for example).
evangelion 1.11 english dub 1080p
the english trailer, while not having access to the original japanese trailer, does a great job of setting the tone for the rest of the package. it isn't just that the english is great, but that the execution does justice to a series that has been met with much skepticism by fans, and rightfully so.
the english subtitle file is surprisingly user friendly, and is easily understood by most viewers, even those who are not familiar with the japanese language. it's a bit of a shame that the english dub has no english subtitles, as that would have been a great addition for those who don't read the japanese. also, there's no closed captioning in the english version.
the english version of the dub is presented in anamorphic widescreen 16:9 and delivered at a 1080p/avc mpeg-4 encode at the 1.78:1 ratio. the english dub has a very nice presentation, which is evident even when watching the interlaced version. the colors are sharp and vibrant, and the image is very detailed.
audio quality is about as good as you can expect from a dub. the english dub is presented in 5.1 dts-hd master audio, and in addition to the many speakers of the show, the english dub also offers dolby digital surround and dolby pro logic ii surround at 7.1 as well as lpcm stereo.
